Making a third 'monitor' extended screen with a Kensington Dual Monitor Adapter

I already have dual screens running of a 512mb radeon 3840 hd card and they work wonderful. Admittedly i could do with upgrading them to two 24"+ screens for real estate but for what i do currently they are enough. My problem is however that for recording on boinxtv i could really do with a local 'monitor' to see my switching controls and to get a visual feedback of a number of elements while recording. This blog post explains about the equipment i am using to create a 'third' extended screen in which i can put my boinxtv assets on while sitting in front of my camera and use all the rest of the time as a tweetdeck screen.

I have been looking at methods of extending my desktop/screens onto spare monitors i have for quite some time, whilst you can get hardware (mainly usb) for windows to create a virtual screen/window finding something for the mac can be a challenge. I wanted a unit that you can plug into usb and it will give you a dvi/vga port to power another screen - with the kensington dual monitor adapter i think i have found that.

I think i started to look for a unit like this after i saw some of the cool stuff boinx had coming out for the boinxtv platform - these drivers to make it work with a mac have only just been released - they are very much beta drivers but they do work.
